Inoculate The World, Or At Least Your Soil

How Soilscape Solutions Builds Soil Biology

There are many ways to build biological activity in ones soil. The method we most prefer is using Biological Inoculants specially formulated for each stage of plant growth. We parter with Tainio Biologicals who provide the best microbial products in the industry, and don’t price gouge like many of their competitors. With very little effort or cost, we help can build incredibly high populations of microbes in soil. Rivaling those of even the most experienced compost tea brewers who are trained with a microscope.

It’s not that we don’t advocate for brewing compost teas. We simply love the ease of use, efficacy, and targeted biology with the products we offer.

Exploring Tainio Products

Most of the given application rates for drenching gives a suggested treatment rate based on square footage. There are many factors when deciding how much of each inoculant to add based on square footage. We recommend an initial inoculation at the higher application rate, with successive applications at the lower range, as a general rule of thumb.

  • Tainio Biogenesis
    • About – Biological plant enzymes/root dip/soil/seed transplant inoculant. Biogenesis contains beneficial microorganisms and humectants (preserves moisture). This will establish beneficial microbial populations needed for balanced soil biology to improve soil health, make essential nutrients available to plants and promote plant growth.
    • When To Use – As a soil treatment during the soil amending process, as part of our Soil Activation Protocol. Optionally watered in alone, as a broad spectrum inoculant.
    • Application Rates
      • Drench: 0.33 – 1 mL/gal or 0.3 – 0.85 g/gal; 1 lb will treat 5-10k sq/ft of canopy
Amending Media: 1 lb will treat 100 cubic yards of potting soil when amending
  • Tainio Rhizogenesis
    • About – A biological root/soil/seed inoculant that delivers billons of colonies of plant growth promoting rhizobacteria (PGPR) and mycorrhizal fungi right to the roots. Helps promote strong, healthy root growth and enhances soil microbe metabolism and repro-duction by holding vital pockets of moisture around the plants’ root zones. Beneficial soil-based microorganisms, root nourishing mycorrhizal fungi, and super absorbent polymers that serve as tiny moisture-holding sponges.
    • When To Use – Drench at transplant time, as part of our Transplant Feed Protocol.
    • Application Rates
      • Drench: 0.33 – 1 mL/gal or 0.3 – 0.85 g/gal; 1 lb will treat 5-10k sq/ft of canopy
      • Root Dip: 45 g/gal
  • Tainio Mycogenesis
    • About – A dry biological inoculant containing an extraordinarily diverse population of bacteria plus mycorrhizal fungi. Beneficial bacteria and fungi in MycoGenesis will help free mineral nutrients from soils for a greater availability, colonize plant roots, and protect from pathogenic micro-organisms.
    • When To Use – Starting 10-12 days after transplant as a drench, or a slurry may be made for dipping rooted clones. If using Tainio Spectrum NFB™ apply in alternating weeks.
    • Application Rates
      • Drench: 0.33 – 1 mL/gal or 0.3 – 0.85 g/gal; 1 lb will treat 5-10k sq/ft of canopy
      • Root Dip: 45 g/gal
  • Tainio Spectrum NFB
    • About -Nitrogen is a critical component of plant growth and health. Nitrogen deficiencies lead to poor crop quality and poor yield. Spectrum NFB unlocks the atmospheric nitrogen potential around us into a plant usable form. It combines the powerful benefits of these robust nitrogen fixing organisms, with the full array of plant growth promoting rhizobacteria (PGPR) in Spectrum.
    • When To Use – Inoculation should be made in early vegetative cycle, 5-10 days after initial transplant into soil medium from clone. If using Tainio MycoGenesis™ apply in alternating weeks
    • Application Rates
      • Drench: 0.055 – 0.15 mL/gal or 0.05 – 0.15 g/gal; 75g will treat 5-10k sq/ft of canopy
      • Root Dip: 45 g/gal
  • Tainio Spectrum PSB
    • About – A phosphorus solubilizing biological soil inoculant. Phosphorus is necessary for vigorous root growth early on, and plant growth during the bloom cycle. The solubilizing bacteria in Spectrum PSB help to break down the phosphorus that may already be present in the soil in insoluble organic forms which are unable to be absorbed by the plant.
    • When To Use – During late vegetative and early flower cycle – after “flip”. Do not mix with compost tea. This bacteria is very active and will out compete all other microbes in the brew. It can be incorporated into the tea at the end of the brewing cycle.
    • Application Rates
      • Drench: 0.055 – 0.15 mL/gal or 0.05 – 0.15 g/gal; 75g will treat 5-10k sq/ft of canopy
      • Root Dip: 45 g/gal
  • Tainio Spectrum DS
    • About – Broad Spectrum inoculant with the help of the Mycorhizae, these fungi receive sugars from the plant, and in return, aid the plant in the uptake of water and nutrients in the soil.
    • When To Use – When soil is very sodic and needs to be flushed/leached.
    • Application Rates
      • Drench: 0.035 – 0.1 mL/gal or 0.03 – 0.09 g/gal; 50g will treat 5-10k sq/ft of canopy
  • Tainio Spectrum + Myco
    • About – Broad Spectrum inoculant with the help of the Mycorhizae, these fungi receive sugars from the plant, and in return, aid the plant in the uptake of water and nutrients in the soil.
    • When To Use – Throughout the growth cycle in replace of compost tea.
    • Application Rates
      • Drench: 0.11 – 0.33 mL/gal or 0.1 – 0.3 g/gal; 155g of Spectrum + Myco will treat 5-10k sq/ft of canopy
  • Tainio Biodigester
    • About – A beneficial soil microorganism that will only digest dead cellulose material left in the field after harvest, breaking down debris into nutrient-rich soil. It will not harm living plants. Digests most annual crop debris into nutrient-rich soil, building humus.
    • When To Use – Post harvest, or when cover crops are terminated in the spring.
    • Application Rates
      • Drench: 0.035 – 0.1 mL/gal or 0.03 – 0.09 g/gal; 50g will treat 5-10k sq/ft of canopy
  • Tainio Pepzyme Clear
    • About – High quality, stable liquid enzyme biostimulant. Stimulates the growth and metabolism of plant growth promoting microbes to break down organic matter. Approved for use on certified organic crops and is listed by the WSDA (Washington State Department of Agriculture) Organic Program.
    • When To Use – Anytime using any other Tainio products.
    • Application Rates
      • Drench: 1 mL per gallon

So whether brewing compost teas or not, we highly recommend the addition of our Biological Inoculations with any cultivation plan.
