Testing and Analysis Information

Soil Testing Feedback So You Can CRUSH IT!

Why Soil Testing and Analysis Is Important

We all know how important it is to be connected to our plants and our gardens. One of the key parts of cultivation is intuition, the other is objective feedback. This is where Testing and Analysis come into play. At Soilscape Solutions we provide the most complete and comprehensive soil testing, water testing, and plant tissue testing in the business. We’re here to get you the feedback you need.

The core of our business is built around creating Soil Amendments for cannabis growers. We recommend all clients have their soil tested prior to amending. After all testing is submitted for analysis, the results are reviewed by our resident Soil Scientist and Owner, Sam Deyton. Sam has 20+ years of experience in this business and prides himself and the business on setting up our clients for success.

This feedback leads clients to understanding where they are, and where they need to be going.

How to Collect and Submit Your Sample

Soil Testing and Analysis Sample(s)

  1. Selecting An Area
    • The area needs to be uniform in color, texture, depth and drainage with the same fertilizing program and type of homogenization. An area with similar plants can be grouped into one sample. Areas with plants that are exhibiting unusual symptoms need to be treated as separate samples.
  2. Collecting Sample
    • Remove any surface vegetation. For garden beds or containers, sample generally from the surface to 6 or 8 inches. For native or clay soils sample 2 to 6 inches.
    • Use a soil probe, auger, or dig a hole with a trowel and scrape the edge of the hole to remove a sample. Tools need to be clean and not rusty. Avoid sampling when the soil is too wet or too dry.
    • For a small area or individual plant, obtain at least two or three samples (approx. 1 cup per sample) from
different locations. For large areas, garden beds, or multiple containers, at least five samples should be obtained, homogenized and then subsampled for analysis.

Water Testing and Analysis Sample(s)

  1. Selecting An Area
    • If you have multiple water sources we suggest sampling each water source. If you are collecting from a spring or have water diversion rights, we suggest testing intermittently throughout the year to understand how your water sources differ based on rain fall and water table levels. We suggest taking a sample from your water source, as well as at the end of your line. This is especially needed in any areas you’re experiencing differentiations in plant growth.
